Exclusive Teen Facial

Teens, both males & females, should be introduced to facial treatments and proper skin care. This treatment helps purify, soothe and balance the look of oily and problematic skin. A deep cleansing and exfoliation prevents and eliminates blackheads, whiteheads, breakouts and congestion – reducing the look of inflammation and irritation and leaving the skin clean and refreshed. This gentle, balancing treatment includes a skin analysis and lesson on how to take care of your skin with the right cleansers and moisturizers for your skin type. A series may be recommended for teens with acne or problematic skin to help them through this sensitive time in their life. Our experts will provide instruction for proper “at home” skincare and use products to help bring your skin to a healthy appearance.

FAQ’s:

My teenager has gotten spotty and picks at her/his skin. She won’t listen to me! What do I do?

Hormonal changes combined with a poor diet, stress, lack of sleep and other environmental factors can wreak havoc on the skin. Lifestyle changes can go a long way to improve the skin, especially alongside regular facials. Before you consider antibiotics or prescription acne drugs, come in and let us look at your teen’s skin.

What is a teen facial?

Facials for teens are often designed to specifically address breakouts that frequently are associated with adolescent skin. Teen facials typically begin with a deep cleansing, followed by gentle extractions. A healing mask will then help to rehydrate dry, flaky skin, or eliminate oily particles.

I have oily skin and suffer from breakouts. Will a facial help this?

In a word, yes. For oily, breakout-prone skin, we use products that clean and slough off excess oil and dead skin cells. After cleansing and a light scrub, gentle extractions are performed. Following extractions, your aesthetician will choose an appropriate mask for your skin, then tone and moisturize with an oil-free moisturizer. We may also discuss your lifestyle and recommend certain changes to help combat excess oil and acne.

What is an extraction?

Extractions are considered the heart of a clinical-style facial – they are the manual removal of sebum (oil and dirt) from your pores. It is the sebum, trapped within the pores beneath the skin’s top layers, which can cause breakouts. Once your esthetician performs exfoliation and disencrustation, she will proceed to apply pressure to congested areas on your face, using either her fingers, cotton swabs, or a metal extractor in order to remove the sebum from your pores. Sebum-free pores not only don’t develop pimples, they appear much smaller, making your skin look clearer and brighter.

How do I get rid of the blackheads on my forehead?

Bacteria, excessive oil, dirt, make-up and sweat are just a few of the factors that causes this problem. Keeping the skin clean with the right cleaners to reduce oiliness is the first step. Morning cleansing is as important as evening. Follow up with Salicylic Acid Toner – then moisturize at least once a day with oil free moisturizer and you are on your way to clear, blackhead free skin.

Can I pop a pimple if I can see the white part?

Popping or squeezing a pimple won’t actually get rid of the problem. Squeezing can actually push bacteria and puss deeper into the skin, which can cause more swelling and redness. Squeezing also can lead to scabs and might leave you with permanent pits or scars. Since popping isn’t the way to go, patience is the key. Your pimple will disappear on its own, and by leaving it alone you’re less likely to be left with any reminders that it was there.
