The teen years are a time of dramatic physiological changes in the human body, including puberty, growth spurts and, unfortunately, acne. Acne affects almost 85 percent of all Americans in varying degrees, at some point during their lives. This is not only a dramatic cutaneous occurrence often requiring treatment, but also typically carries with it a tremendous emotional burden for teen acne sufferers. Chemical peels are a great treatment for teens with acne and acne scarring. A solution is applied to the face that “peels” off the top layers of the skin. This helps even out the tone and texture of the skin, especially if acne scarring is present. It also makes it easier for acne medicines to penetrate and get into the pores where they have their effect.

What should I do post treatment?
Your esthetician will go over at home care with you during your treatment. It is recommended to stay cool within the first 48 hours post-treatment, so this could be a concern. Always remember to wear your SPF.
